Family/Parenting/Pregnancy

My favorite pregnancy exercise site!
I stumbled upon this site by accident, a few months ago and it's a real gem! www.educatedpregnancy.com with Dr. Cathy. When I first started watching this site, all of her videos were free...now, unfortunately you have to buy a subscription for many of the exercise videos. :-( However, if you can afford a subscription (which I cannot), I highly recommend the workout videos! One of the things that helped me the most, was learning how I could change popular exercises to do while pregnant. For instance, using an exercise ball for abdominal exercises, etc. All of her videos are highly informative for pregnant Mom's. This is one site you don't want to miss, if you are pregnant, or know someone who is.;-)

My two biggest pregnancy tips!
Obviously, there are many things you can do to help insure a healthy pregnancy like, drink plenty of water, eat right, exercise, get extra rest when needed, etc. I've learned a lot over the years. I wish I had known how important this little tidbit of information could've benefited me many pregnancies ago!

I learned from T-Tapp how important it is to stand up straight and simply tuck your tailbone under. When I did this, it helped my posture and I had almost no lower back pain, that is so common during the last trimester! When I tucked my tailbone under and put my shoulders back, while walking, doing dishes, sitting in the car, etc...it helped me tremendously! Doing this also helps strengthen your abdomen...it also helps you get more from daily walking.

The other tip to go along with that one, is doing "Kegel exercises," during pregnancy.
The "Kegels" help support the pelvic floor and during pregnancy these are needed, because you have a lot of extra weight pressing on you down there! Doing these, will also help strengthen other muscles and help you during labor and after your baby is born. Of course these are also good for any women to do anytime too.;-)

If you are pregnant, or know someone who is pregnant, pass these little tidbits of information along to them and they will thank you for it! ;-)

A Quiet Time for little ones...for everyone!
Although I've made mistakes in my parenting over the years, one thing (God prompted me to do when my oldest son was little), I've done that has stood the test of time, is having a "quiet time" everyday. This allows for several things: 1) The little ones to get some needed rest, 2) For our whole family to have time during the day, where the house is kept mostly quiet, and 3) Last, but certainly not least, it gives me time to keep my sanity! LOL! :o) Seriously, this is time when Mom can rest or catch up on bible reading, or work on projects that have been put on the back-burner for months or years, etc.
We have always had our quiet time from 1-3 or 3:30 each day and this works very well for us. Your quiet time may be at a different time during the day and your quiet time may be a different length of time...
Try it...you'll like it! :o)

Spend more time reading!
Reading is wonderful...especially with children! I have not met a child yet, who didn't enjoy being read to. I've always enjoyed reading. I love the one-on-one time with my children while reading to them. I love what they can learn from a simple book.
We also have times we read together as a family.  Our favorite books are biographies...especially missionary biographies. These are some of our favorites: http://www.ywampublishing.com/c-70-christian-heroes-then-now.aspx
Do you read to your children? What are your favorite books you read to your children?
